Cargill Nutrition System
Cargill Nutrition System (CNS) is the most advanced, accurate and practical animal nutrition system in the world and it provides the power that drives all of our offerings, tools and services.
CNS combines all of Cargill Animal Nutrition’s (CAN) industry-leading animal nutrition know-how, state-of-the art research facilities and nutrient analysis technology, software analysis and modeling tools and world class staff, with Cargill’s worldwide ingredient sourcing capabilities into a fully integrated system.
CNS supports precise feed formulations that meet nutrient requirements across a multitude of species, climates and locations. It incorporates considerations such as the availability and cost of ingredients and customers’ specific business objectives to optimize performance and boost profitability.
This enables us to continue to be our customers’ trusted adviser as we pursue our long-term commitment to continue to provide them with pioneering nutrition and service solutions.
- Human Resources. Among the most valuable of CNS’s features is the vast array of training, knowledge and experience that CAN’s 17,000 employees bring to the system. This includes some 500 research and development and application staff members who have among them more than 200 Ph.D. and veterinary degrees.
-
Nutrition know-how. At the heart of CNS is an information database that includes more than 2 million nutrient samples covering some 1.800 ingredients. Roughly 250 of the most variable ingredients are analyzed daily (for a total of nearly 10 million nutrient analyses annually) to ensure nutritional consistency across all of our products.
The CNS database also includes knowledge accumulated through CAN’s annual investment in research, development and application activities—plus thousands of daily interactions with customers by sales, marketing and technical staff members.
This knowledge database is continually updated through CAN’s R&D activities and customer interactions, as well as with the latest advances developed at universities and other research centers around the world. - Physical assets. CNS is supported by research activities and trials at CAN’s global R&D centers in Elk River (Minnesota) and Velddriel (Netherlands) and 13 Regional Technology Application Centers around the world.
- Technology. CNS activities are supported by cutting-edge technology – such as near-infrared spectroscopy, which enables technicians to quickly analyze nutrient samples – and proprietary software modeling and analysis tools that enable CAN technicians to factor in a multitude of variables, including nutritional needs, customers’ business models and ingredient costs—to formulate optimal customer solutions.
