Cargill in Italy

Cargill has been active in Italy since 1962. Since then the company and its business have grown. Following the acquisition of Degussa’s food ingredients business, Cargill Italy has around 730 employees in 11 locations in Milan, Castelmassa (RO), S. Maria di Mugnano (MO), San Felice sul Panaro (MO), Sospiro (CR), Spessa Po (PV), Termoli (CB), Padova, Chioggia (VE), Vigonza (PD), and Verona.
 

We have activities in the following areas in Italy:

  • Animal feed consulting services
  • Sweeteners and starch production and sales
  • Specialty food ingredients, including texturisers

Cargill investments in Italy

2008 Cargill launched in Italy Nutrena® petfood brand
2007 Cargill invested in crane/barge logistics system in the Venice region.
2006 Cargill acquired Degussa’s food ingredients business, including its Italian site in Vigonza.
2005 Cargill acquired Pagnan’s waterway transport business.
2005 Cargill acquired the Mangimi Emmetre Srl animal feed brand from Moretti.
2004 Cargill acquired the Agridea feed brand from ASA Srl Gruppo Pizzolo.
2003 Cargil acquired a 10% shareholding in Grandi Molini Italiani SpA (GMI), a major flour miller.
2003 Cargill combined its Italian businesses to form Cargill Srl.
2002 Cargill acquired Cerestar – a leading provider of starch and starch derivatives – the largest acquisition in Cargill’s history. The acquisition included Cerestar’s starches and sweeteners plant in Castelmassa.
2001 Cargill acquired the Agribrands feed business in Italy, including its Purina and Sildamin feed brands.
